Practicioner Research Plan

Practitioner Research Plan

The DINARC Practitioner Research Plan is a living document that facilitates the use of the key elements of DINARC.

It is suggested that the Practitioner Research Plan is shared between clinical practitioner, line manager, mentor and academic supervisor to support setting DINARC goals and milestones and ideally a timeline is negotiated between all parties. This is particularly important soon after a doctorate award to ensure the practitioner remains engaged in pursuing research related activity.

The DINARC Practitioner Research Plan supports the navigation of key areas such as:
  • securing a sponsor
  • identifying and gaining an appropriate mentor (may be University or Clinically based) with the relevant clinical academic skills
  • establishing themselves within a local multidisciplinary research team aligned to their chosen clinical specialty
  • undertaking appropriate Patients and Public Involvement (PPI) activity
  • capturing wider collaborative networking including working nationally and internationally
  • working towards a post-doctoral fellowship application or related award may also be an area to be explored and progressed
  • pursuing opportunities as a co-applicant on grants
  • identifying and gaining the skills required to ultimately lead on their own grant applications
  • continuing to develop and advanced clinical skills and identifying areas of synergy between their academic and clinical development
